First Impressions
Hobbitenango is a Lord of the Rings-inspired eco-park in the mountains above Antigua, with round-door hobbit houses, gardens and some of the best views of the Agua, Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes. It is playful and a bit touristy, but the view on a clear morning is worth it on its own.
History & How Long to Stay
Hobbitenango started in the 2010s as a small eco-project by a group of friends who wanted a self-sustaining place in the hills of Antigua; the name mixes "hobbit" with "-tenango", a common ending of Guatemalan place names. It grew into an eco-park with hobbit-style cabins, a restaurant and activities, powered partly by solar energy.

A swing at the edge of the hill that makes it look like you are flying over Antigua.
A wooden viewing platform shaped like a bird's nest, with views over the valley and the volcanoes.
Mini-golf, archery and axe throwing, mostly included or for a small fee.
A buffet restaurant (Q129–169) and an à la carte restaurant with pizzas, burgers and Guatemalan dishes (Q25–75 per item).
Four types of hobbit-style cabins with fireplaces. Staying overnight means sunset and sunrise over the volcanoes without the day crowds.
Tip: check-in from 15:00, check-out by 11:00; bring warm clothes, it gets cold at night.

Fly into Guatemala City (GUA), then go to Antigua.
Hobbitenango shuttle from Antigua: Q85 return. Weekdays hourly from 8:00 to 15:00 (returns 9:30–17:30); weekends every 30 minutes from 8:00 to 16:00 (returns 9:30–18:30).
By car: drive to the lower parking, then take the included 4x4 ride up.

On foot inside the park.
Good to know
Keep in mind that clouds usually arrive by late morning. Take an early shuttle for the best volcano views.
