- Brazilian real (BRL). 1 USD ≈ 5.2 BRL (2 October 2026). Cards accepted almost everywhere
- Entry
- US, Canadian and Australian citizens need an e-visa (US 80.90 dollars, online at brazil.vfsevisa.com; apply 2–3 weeks ahead). EU and UK passports are visa-free for 90 days
- Rides
- Uber and 99 in both cities

- Portuguese; English is limited outside tourist areas
- Tipping
- 10% service charge is usually added to restaurant bills
- Plugs
- Type N (and older Type C), 127V or 220V depending on the city (Rio is 127V; Foz do Iguaçu 127V); check before plugging in
